REAL PEOPLE

“Where silence speaks and truth finds voice.”

Welcome

Real People is a place where humanity is the starting point. Where language doesn’t just describe, but opens. Where stories are given room to breathe, to heal, and to connect.

Here, everything begins with listening. With seeing what is not said. With words that bring nuance, create safety, and reveal the undercurrent.

Real People was born from a lifetime of caring, guiding, carrying and interpreting. From more than thirty years in care and the social domain. From fifty years of caregiving. From the ability to feel what moves beneath the surface and to translate that into language.

Welcome.

Real People / Amber Hall

I am Amber Hall writer, poet, narrative analyst and care professional. My work lives at the intersection of lived experience, professional
knowledge and human depth.

For over thirty years, I worked with young people, adults, families and teams in complex situations: youth care, disability care, forensic
care, trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, poverty, psychiatry and incident investigations.

I wrote In 'Conversation About Violence in Youth Care' for the Dutch Ministry of Health, developed a helpline for survivors, and spoke with thousands of people.

What has shaped me most is this: I have never met anyone who was ever allowed to tell their whole story. Not at home. Not in care. Not in therapy. Not in society.

When a person is never allowed to let their full story exist, it touches something deeper than trauma. It touches existence itself. It makes lives smaller than their soul, voices softer than their truth.

That is why Real People exists.

I write, listen, analyse and interpret. I make visible what lives beneath the surface: patterns, pain points, blind spots, taboos and
possibilities. I connect lived experience with professional clarity. With softness, integrity and precision.

For those who want to understand what is truly happening. For those who feel that humanity, safety and connection are foundations. For those who seek words for what was never allowed to exist.

OWN WORK

Real People also publishes original work: opinion pieces, narrative essays, reflections and short observations on humanity, care, trauma, system pressure and the undercurrent.

My writing appears on:

  • Substack

  • LinkedIn

In my own work, I explore what often remains unseen: the quiet layers of experience, the tension between systems and people, and the stories that rarely find a place elsewhere.

It is language that softens, sharpens, opens and invites reflection.
