Real People
Real People is a place where stories are not extracted, but honoured.
A place for people and organisations who want to bring humanity back into their work and their lives, slowly, honestly and with care.
It is a space where language becomes a bridge between people, practice and policy.
Where stories are recognised as knowledge.
Where truth is allowed to exist in its full shape, not only in the parts that fit neatly into systems.
Real People is built on a simple and radical belief:
every human being deserves a place where their whole story may exist.
Why Real People Exists
After thousands of conversations across decades of care work, I realised something that changed everything.
I have never met a single person who was able to tell their whole story.
Not at home.
Not in care.
Not in therapy.
Not in society.
When a person never gets to tell their whole story, something happens that goes deeper than pain, deeper than trauma, deeper than loss.
It touches existence itself.
Not being heard, or not being believed, is not just silence.
It is a form of disappearing.
A slow dissolving of yourself in a world that only accepts the digestible parts of you.
It makes a life smaller than the soul that carries it.
It makes a voice softer than the truth it holds.
It turns a body into a container for stories that were never meant to be carried alone.
I have seen how people split themselves into pieces to survive.
How they learn that parts of them are too much.
How they hide their truth because no one ever held space for the whole of it.
How trauma is not only what happened, but the prohibition against letting it exist.
Real People was created as a place where that prohibition ends.
A place where stories can breathe.
Where truth is not weighed, but witnessed.
Where people can exist in their fullness, not in fragments.

About Amber
I am Amber Hall, a writer, poet, narrative analyst and care professional from the Netherlands.
I bring more than thirty years of experience in care, youth work, disability care, forensic care, complex family systems, institutional trauma, violence, poverty, grief and recovery.
I wrote the advisory report In gesprek over geweld in de jeugdzorg for the Dutch Ministry of Health and Stichting voor Ons, developed a listening line for survivors of institutional violence, and supported the Dutch version of the PTSD Challenge.
I have spoken with thousands of people.
My work lives at the intersection of lived experience and professional practice, poetry and analysis, systems and humanity.
I write from the inside out.
I understand how systems feel when you work in them, not just how they look on paper.
My language is gentle and honest, sharp and nuanced, trauma‑sensitive and deeply human.
I write because language can open what policy often closes.
I listen to create space, to witness, to acknowledge, to connect and to help awareness emerge.
I analyse because systems do not change by pushing harder, but by seeing deeper.
I help people find words because every human being has the right to use their voice and to be themselves.
My strength lies in giving language to what lives beneath the surface, in making patterns, blind spots, tensions and possibilities visible, in connecting lived experience with professional knowledge, in clarity without harshness and softness without vagueness.
Real People exists for professionals who want to understand what is truly happening, for organisations that want to strengthen humanity, and for individuals who need words for what has never been allowed to exist.
For everyone who carries a story that is too big, too heavy or too silent.
Every human being deserves a place where the whole story may exist.
And with that, a place where they themselves may exist.
Services
For Individuals
Sometimes words fall short.
Sometimes language is too small for what you feel.
And sometimes you need someone who can hold, shape and soften your story.
Real People offers a safe, careful and deeply human space for anyone who needs language for what is difficult to say.
I write personal poems for grief, healing, childhood, love, identity and important life moments.
I write speeches and ceremony texts for funerals, memorials, weddings, farewells and transitions.
I create memorials and life stories that honour a life, a loss or a legacy.
I write trauma narratives for people whose experiences have never been fully heard or believed, including narrative reconstructions and texts for processing, legal contexts or helping others understand what happened.
I write recovery stories that make growth, boundaries and healing visible.
I create healing stories and psycho‑education for children, written in symbolic, gentle language that helps them understand big feelings, fear, loss or change.
I write mythic and reflective stories that open, clarify and give strength
For Organisations and Professionals
Real People supports organisations in care, the social domain and policy with narrative expertise that makes humanity visible.
I bring the undercurrent into view: the dynamics, experiences and patterns that determine whether care works or collapses.
With more than thirty years of experience in care, youth work, disability care and complex cases, I combine practice knowledge, lived experience and systemic analysis.
My work reveals what numbers cannot show: the human reality behind policy, processes and professional interaction.
Always trauma‑sensitive.
Always careful.
Always aimed at improvement.
I write narrative case descriptions that reveal the human context behind files and decisions.
I translate methods and models into language that teams can understand and apply.
I rewrite policy into clear, accessible language that connects to real life.
I make team dynamics visible, including tensions, loyalties and unspoken patterns.
I analyse the relational dynamics between professionals, clients and families, the layer where care succeeds or fails.
I give language to the inner processes of professionals, including moral stress and secondary trauma.
I contribute narrative material to research and journalism, adding depth, nuance and human meaning.
I write poetic, mythic and narrative pieces for campaigns, publications, training and awareness projects.
If you need a writer who is human, honest, respectful, precise and trauma‑aware
I would love to think with you.
Real People is not a method.
Not a protocol.
Not a technique.
It is a way of seeing.
A way of listening.
A way of working that brings back what we have lost along the way: humanity, safety, connection and integrity.
